FROM THE PASTOR

Dear Church Family,

We continue to have wonderful days of great attendance and worship. Special thanks go to Jim Muncie, our Chancel Choir, Martha Frances Monroe and our Embrace Praise Team for their music at our morning services. Thanks also go to Helen Smith for playing piano for our evening service and to our Youth Choir for their anthem and to Greg Smith and Kate Male for their offertory. It was great as well to have the New Albany High School Tennis Team at our 11:00 am worship service and to have the opportunity to pray for them.

I want to thank our Commissioner, Ren Nelson, and our Co-Commissioner, Mark McClinton, for their leadership with our Upward Basketball season. Not only did they gift us their Saturdays for seven weeks but they did an incredible amount of work behind-the-scenes to prepare for the season and to work with the coaches and families. We had a larger group of children play Upward this year and it takes many people to run that program. We had many new and veteran referees, coaches and devotional leaders this year who all did an amazing job. Thanks go to Lee Ellen Nelson for recruiting our devotion speakers, too.  Lastly, thanks go to our office staff for fielding tons of calls and to Nathan Staggs, our Ministry Assistant, who opened up early and locked up late for Upward practices and games for 27 nights and 7 Saturdays in just 63 days. Thanks, everyone!!

We had several families join our church this past week at our quarterly New Member Sunday at the Embrace service. We have other families who will become a part of our church family at our traditional services soon as well. Please make sure to welcome and reach out to these new members!

Greg and I will both continue in our current sermon series this coming Sunday. I like to remind all of you from time to time that we would both love to speak with you if you ever have questions and would like to talk about what we have been sharing.

I do want to encourage all of our Sunday School teachers (regular and substitute) and their spouses to attend our Teacher Appreciation Breakfast this Sunday at 9:45am in Wesley Hall. You all give so much of your time to help disciple our church and we want to have a chance to thank you.

Stay forever in the Light; never lose sight of the Way. See you Sunday

In Christ, Rev. Barry Male, Jr.
