Our Health Advisory Team met on Sunday, June 14, and discussed further guidelines for our ministry together as a community of faith. I want to take this opportunity to provide some highlights from their meeting.
Adult Sunday School—Adult Sunday School classes will be allowed to resume in-person gatherings at the church on August 2. However, classes should poll their members to find out how many will actually be coming to in-person worship. Thus, it may be necessary for classes to continue to offer a Zoom option for members who do not yet feel comfortable coming to in-person gatherings.
Children and Youth Sunday School—No decision has been made on a re-start date for children’s and youth Sunday School classes.
Funerals—Until further notice, funerals held at the church will be for family only, and no public visitation time will be scheduled.
Masks—Members attending our in-person worship service are still asked to wear masks. Both hand sanitizer and masks are available as you enter the gym or sanctuary.
Outside activities—There will be no outside activities or group rentals until further notice.
Please understand that every decision the Health Advisory Team makes has the safety of our congregation and community as its number one priority. If you have any questions or concerns about any of the new guidelines, feel free to contact: Ren Nelson, Chair, Dr. Steve Shirley, Lay Leader, or me.
Know that as your pastor I am always here for you. These are unprecedented times in which we live, and the threat the coronavirus poses is very real. My number one goal as your pastor is making sure our community of faith is safe AND being spiritually nourished. Know that your church staff is doing its very best during these strange, difficult times.
Yet, as John Wesley said, “Best of all, God is with us.” Hold fast to that eternal truth during these days, and know that you are loved by an Amazing God!
