The Pastor’s Pen

Since we are at the beginning of a New Year, I want to take this opportunity to suggest 4 things that you can do to strengthen our church:

  1. Begin attending weekly worship. Decide well before Sunday morning that you are going to be present with your brothers and sisters in Christ.
  2. Commit to pray daily for your pastors, church staff, and other church leaders.
  3. Make an effort to begin giving at a rate that honors God. This will insure that our church has the resources it needs to continue to minister to our community.
  4. Make a commitment to read the Bible daily. If this seems new and daunting to you, ask one of your pastors or church staff members for help.

Our church is a special place. I sensed this in a powerful way when I looked at our gathered congregation on January 1 at the ONE Service in the Christian Life Center. There were a lot of us gathered on that day! And in our diversity, it was clear to me that we are family.

The four things I mentioned above can be done by anyone. We can start them today. Our community of faith is special, and it’s special because we are more than a church building. We are a family of believers centering our lives on God.
