Since we are at the beginning of a New Year, I want to take this opportunity to suggest 4 things that you can do to strengthen our church:
- Begin attending weekly worship. Decide well before Sunday morning that you are going to be present with your brothers and sisters in Christ.
- Commit to pray daily for your pastors, church staff, and other church leaders.
- Make an effort to begin giving at a rate that honors God. This will insure that our church has the resources it needs to continue to minister to our community.
- Make a commitment to read the Bible daily. If this seems new and daunting to you, ask one of your pastors or church staff members for help.
Our church is a special place. I sensed this in a powerful way when I looked at our gathered congregation on January 1 at the ONE Service in the Christian Life Center. There were a lot of us gathered on that day! And in our diversity, it was clear to me that we are family.
The four things I mentioned above can be done by anyone. We can start them today. Our community of faith is special, and it’s special because we are more than a church building. We are a family of believers centering our lives on God.
