What a fantastic Lenten season and Holy Week we shared! I can’t say enough about our music program. The choir, hand bells, Embrace band and other special music offerings really made each and every worship service extra special. Hearing our choir and hand bells lead “Christ the Lord is Risen Today” on Easter morning was nothing less than magnificent!
For all who treat us to first class worship music every week in all three services, please know that I am so thankful for your ministry. You make my sermon at least a letter-grade better than it would have been without you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
This Sunday we get to witness four young people make a public commitment to Jesus Christ. Confirmation is an important part of one’s faith journey. While parents make faith commitments on our behalf at baptism, confirmation is the time in which we claim the name Christian for ourselves. Ashlyn Brown, Natalie Creekmore, Darcy Garrett, and Maquire Miskelly will be confirmed this Sunday at the 11:00 a.m. service, while Owen Everett and Matthew Harris will be confirmed at the 9:00 a.m. service on April 15. Please be sure to give these young people words of encouragement as they mark this milestone in their faith journey.
One interesting aspect of baptism and confirmation is that the entire congregation makes faith promises to those entering the life of the church. Please be present this Sunday to show your support to your younger brothers and sisters in Christ. They are not only the future of our church, they are part of the church right now.
It has been an absolute joy working with our confirmation class over the past three months. We have had some very deep and significant faith discussions, and I am excited to be part of their big day as they publically proclaim Jesus as Lord. Ask them if they have their “confirmation speeches” ready. More on that this Sunday!
See you in worship!
