Let me use this week’s Pastor’s Pen to give you some good news…
As of Tuesday afternoon, we have received 140 financial commitments for 2019 that total $732,270. This is wonderful! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
However, we still have 31 pledges from last year that have not been renewed. These outstanding commitments total another $121,320. Our congregation is on the verge of setting another stewardship record. If you have not yet made your 2019 commitment to the church, please prayerfully consider doing so. I’ll go ahead and say it in advance: thank you, thank you, thank you!
This past Sunday we had standing room only at the chapel for our consecration service. It was a wonderful time of celebration and hope. Know that our chapel has already been used for several weddings and funeral services. Also, holy communion is offered each Wednesday at 5 p.m. during the school year. Consider making this part of your weekly routine!
We will have a ONE service this Sunday, November 11, and our youth will be serving a Thanksgiving feast to the church after worship. Tickets are $8, and you may pick those up on Wednesday night or during daytime hours at the church office. Take-out orders will also be available. Our church is blessed with a strong youth program, so let’s be sure to support their biggest fundraiser of the year!
Last but certainly not least, I’d like to share some good news about Martha Frances Monroe. On Monday, Martha Frances successfully defended her dissertation and will be awarded a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Mississippi this December. I am so proud of Martha Frances for this accomplishment, and our church is truly blessed to experience her gifts each week during worship. Congratulations, Martha Frances! We love you!
Please make a good effort to be in worship this week for our ONE service. I know that something spectacular will happen. I know that God will move. How? Come and see!
