The turkey and pumpkin pie were fantastic, so that means just one thing: Advent is on the way! This Sunday we will kick off this holy season, so be sure to come and begin this wonderful time of spiritual preparation. I’ve always felt as though Advent was a close cousin to Lent in that it helps us re-center our hearts and lives on what’s most important.
Let me give you an update of a few happenings around the church…
Stewardship—We have received 155 commitments for 2019 totaling $809,910.00. Thank you, thank you, thank you! There are still 15 pledges from 2018 that have not been returned for 2019. Please prayerfully consider making a commitment to your community of faith. Our congregation will only be as strong as we are faithful!
Christmas Store—Our Christmas Store will take place next Tuesday and Thursday. We, of course, need more toys and monetary donations. The Christmas Store ministers to and blesses MANY families each year. Please consider making an extra gift to support this great cause.
Wednesday Nights—Our Wednesday Nights will end for the year on December 5. We have been blessed with great fellowship, and we have been fed wonderful food under the leadership of our chef, Amy Whiteside. When you see Amy, thank her for her hard work! She has almost single-handedly resurrected our Wednesday Night program. If you haven’t been eating with us on Wednesday nights, you don’t know what you’ve been missing! Interested in joining us? Call Judy Wilbanks at the church office to get on the reservation list!
This time of year is busy, busy, busy. Let’s make sure we take time each day for prayer and the Holy Scriptures. If we do, we are sure to see these holidays transformed into holy days. Happy Advent!
