Corey Truett, Associate Pastor
FUMC welcomes the Rev. Corey Truett to our staff.
Pastor Truett comes to FUMC from Mineral Wells UMC in Olive Branch. In his own words, “I always feel like the Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:4-6 when I write a bio. Sure, I have qualifications, such as being a former professional speaker with the Making It Count programs and Monster.com for eight years, serving churches in three states, being a 20+ year youth ministry veteran, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education and Communication Studies from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL, receiving a Masters of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary, and being an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church. But ultimately, none of those bring me joy and meaning like these two things: Jesus and family. I love my Savior and want to completely give my life over to Him each and every day. I love my wife, Heather, who is forever insistent (even as I am typing this!) that she is a Time Lady from Gallifrey. She is a published author and poet, and one semester away from finishing her Masters of Fine Arts in poetry. I love our children Haydn, who is 20 and in AZ living his dream to be a music producer, and David, who is 18, headed to Arkansas State University in August, and inherited all of my strangeness. These are my pride and joy, and where I find my peace. Don’t let the picture fool you! Sarcasm rules our household and is our love language. We may look normal, but we are far from it, and can’t wait to share that with all of you soon! Thanks for inviting us to share life with you at FUMC New Albany!”
Who Am I?
I am the daughter of Lois Spiese. Wife to Timothy Benefield since 2006. 1991 graduate of Germantown High School in Germantown, Tennessee. 1994 graduate of Shelby State Community College and a 2005 graduate of ITT Technical Memphis. I was raised in the United Methodist Church. I joined New Albany FUMC several years ago via letter transfer from Christ UMC in Memphis. I recognized a need with our out-of-date website and wanted to help leading to being a volunteer staff member.
If any of you have questions, comments or suggestions, I look forward to your feedback.
