The Pastor’s Pen

Lent is in full swing, and I wanted to write to you about our special Lenten Mission Offering that was announced on Ash Wednesday. In Matthew 6, Jesus talks about almsgiving (giving to the poor), and what better way is there to practice a holy Lent than to participate in our Lenten Mission Offering for local missions?

One of the ministries that will be supported by our Lenten Mission Offering is Camp Sonshine. Camp Sonshine is a wonderful program that brings disadvantaged children to our church for a week-long Bible-school program. The children sing, learn Bible stories, participate in crafts, and, most importantly, are loved. This is a wonderful ministry of our church that deserves our support.

Participating in the Lenten Mission Offering is simple. On your check, simply write “Lent” in the memo line. Remember that our Lenten Mission Offering is almsgiving. That means it’s over and above our regular giving. Let’s work together with generous hearts to make this year’s Lenten Mission Offering a success!
