Advent blessings to you! Here are four quick things to know as we near the 3rd Sunday of
1.I never dreamed I would be responsible for shutting down public worship not once, not twice, but three times. This third shut down has certainly come at a most inopportune time, as we want to be in our normal holiday routines. However, our Health Advisory Team has at its highest priority the safety and well-being of our congregation and community. We will be virtual only for Sunday, December 13, and then the HAT will re-evaluate the worship schedule for the coming weeks.
Yes, this throws our Christmas Eve plans into some uncertainty, but we will be doing something Christmas Eve—whether it is virtual or in-person. Stay tuned to social media, the newsletter, and our church-wide texting/emailing program for more information.
2.If you would like to be part of the church wide-texting program, simply call the church office and let us know. All we’ll need is your cell number and e-mail address.
3.This Sunday is a big day in the life of the church. Tag will be preaching at the 9 am service while at 11 am, we will worship through a service of Lessons and Carols. Since we are streaming-only for this week, why not enjoy both?
4.Remember that Jesus is Emmanuel—God with us. It’s frustrating to have our Advent and Christmas worship traditions interrupted, but this holy season has not lost its purpose. We worship a risen Savior who loved us enough to come to us as a baby on that first Christmas. And regardless of whether our worship is in-person or virtual for the time being, Jesus will be glorified!
I wish you a joyful Advent season that’s full of much expectation and preparation. Jesus, our Emmanuel, is with us.
