It seems like Christmas was just last week, and, yet, Holy Week is upon us! It is difficult to overstate the importance of this week for Christians. Consider this quote:
“No pain, no palm; no thorns, no throne; no gall, no glory; no cross, no crown.”
We always kick off Holy Week with our Palm Sunday processional. The children waving palms as they process in from the narthex gives us a feeling of cheer. Of course, the danger is that we go from Palm Sunday to Easter Day with nothing in between—no pain, no thorns, no gall, no cross. That’s why I’m asking you to attend one of our Holy Week services if at all possible. Our Holy Thursday service will take place at 6:30 p.m., and our Good Friday service will be at Noon. Both services will be streamed online for those still unable to attend in-person worship.
Additionally, you might want to consider reading the Passion Story at some point during the week. A good place to start is John 18 and 19. Friends, attending Holy Week services and reading about Christ’s Passion will only serve to make our Easter joy all the sweeter!
Know that as we are in the process of regathering our congregation back into weekly, in-person worship, I’m excited about our Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and Easter services. I look forward to seeing you Sunday, either in-person or online!
