The Pastor’s Pen

This has been a busy season for our young people in the life of the church! Last Wednesday, the youth group hosted their annual Senior Night, and it was a blessing to be with the youth and senior parents as we celebrated accomplishments, remembered funny stories, and heard much wisdom from our graduating seniors. The Class of 2021 is truly special in many ways!

Last Saturday the youth hosted a Church Crawfish Boil, and a great time was had by everyone! It was nice to see so many people out and about in the perfect weather, and I’m hopeful that the youth will decide to make this an annual event! If you didn’t get a chance to purchase a t-shirt from this event, know that they look amazing. If you would like one, see Thomas or TAG for availability.

This Sunday we will celebrate our Baccalaureate Service at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. The Class of 2021 has had to deal with so much adversity due to the pandemic, so let’s make sure we all come to worship, support them and celebrate their graduation from high school. Several of the class members will be performing special music during this special service.

Want some more good news regarding our young people? Here goes! We’ve received notice from the Methodist Foundation of Mississippi that three of our college students have received foundation scholarships. Congratulations to Maggie Jo Everett, Mary Spencer Little, and Tucker Shannon! Way to go!

Our congregation is blessed with wonderful youth and committed volunteers who love them. Thomas and TAG are doing a marvelous job in continuing our church’s long tradition of excellent youth ministry. Be sure to pray for our young people and their leaders, and if you’d like to become a part of this ministry, don’t hesitate to call Thomas or Tag.
