What a morning of worship we had on Palm Sunday! I loved processing with the children, and being bopped in the head with a palm branch by them at the 8:45 a.m. service is a memory I won’t soon forget! I also thought our children did an excellent job singing with our choir at the 11 a.m. service.
In fact, our music was excellent at all of the services! From the offertory to the anthem to the hymns to the worship band, the music of Palm Sunday put us all in the mood to worship Christ. You probably don’t know the full story, but Martha Frances and Mary Beth made a quick decision on Sunday morning to change the closing hymn at the 11 a.m. service to “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name.” I asked those who might want to pray to come to the altar, and boy did they come! With the background chorus of “Crown Him, Crown Him!” ringing in our ears, this time of prayer was surely a foretaste of heaven!
I am so appreciative of and thankful for our excellent music professionals and outstanding choir. They really make our worship services extra special. Thank you, Martha Frances, Mary Beth, and choir! And our worship band at 9 a.m. is so dedicated, working hard every week to lead us in worship. You all are awesome!
Now to this Sunday…
What can I say but that Easter Day is the Super Bowl of Christianity. I know that you will be here. I know that you will come with an expectant heart, knowing that God will move in your life. But will you bring someone with you?
Easter is a high and holy season. Everyone knows it, and people are spiritually curious and open to exploring Jesus and his church. Do you have a family member, co-worker, or friend who needs a place to worship Christ on this most holy of days? Our community of faith will welcome and love them.
But before we can do that we have to invite them to come along and experience the Easter joy. I look forward to my first Easter as your pastor.
