While we’ve had a few cool days of late, it’s been hot! Summer is in full-force, from beach trips to back to school preparations. Can you believe it’s already time to start talking about the kids going back to school?
Indeed, school will be back in session the second week of August! With that in mind, I want to remind you of our annual Blessing of the Backpacks that will be held on Sunday, August 5 at all three worship services. We invite all students (even pre-schoolers!) to bring their backpacks to church for a time of prayer and blessing during the worship service.
We will be praying for the students, teachers, staff, and administrators. We will be praying for a safe and fruitful year of learning. We will pray for God to continue to bless our wonderful school system.
Our congregation is home to many, many educators, both active and retired. Please take time in the next few weeks to thank them for all they do for our children and community. Schools and churches are the bedrock of any healthy community, and we are so very blessed in New Albany.
Enjoy these next few weeks of summer. Remember that recreation is re-creation. If you have had an interesting church experience while you’ve been out of town, I’d love to hear about it!
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday!
